Coverage with scalp flags

This is a really old method only rarely used today in particularly special cases. It comprises of the shifting of a part of the scalp, a band of tissue, which is not completely cut off at one side maintaining blood supply, to the area with hair loss.

Punch Grafting

This is a quite old method too, based on the collection of small parts of the scalp, which are implanted in the recipient area with no special treatment. Its main difference to FUE method is that these grafts are quite big. It does not provide the required naturally looking result which is why it is rarely used today.

Scalp Reduction

This method is mainly used in cases of post-traumatic or post-burn alopecia and, in special cases, even in cases of androgenetic alopecia. It is conducted through the extraction of the hairless area, thus minimising areas of hair thinning. Before scalp reduction surgery the scalp may have to be dilated using a special dilator.

F.U.T. (Follicular Unit Transplantation) – Strip Method

Hair transplantation method F.U.T., also called Strip method, used to be the most widely applied method globally until a few years ago. Hair transplantation method F.U.T. is carried out through a massive extraction from the stable hair zone (an area that lies on the sides and back of the scalp) and their transplantation on the recipient area, where hair thinning is observed.

F.U.E. (Follicular Unit Extraction)

The most modern method for hair transplantation at global level is F.U.E., which stands for Follicular Unit Extraction. The combination of top medical expertise and high aesthetic perception leads to an absolutely natural result.

In F.U.E. method, follicular units are collected one by one from the donor area and then transplanted to the recipient areas, showing hair thinning. This means that we avoid the collection of strips of hair follicles, like in F.U.T., which then have to be separated in order to be transplanted. A large number of individual follicular units are collected from the beginning.

Trichoscopy Controlled F.U.E. (Follicular Unit Extraction)

It is the one and only method that can offer guarantee in terms of the number of hair follicles that grow and it is the technique we use in Dermatology Clinics I.Q. It is a method that is guided in each and every step by the objective trichoscopic examination. Trichoscopy allows the detailed study of the scalp’s characteristics per square centimetre both for the donor and for the recipient areas. Through trichoscopy it is possible to document the number of existing hair follicles, the number of hair per hair follicle, hair thickness, hair follicle size, as well as the distances among hair follicles. This recording is performed with ultimate accuracy, since the images are processed through a special, scientific software, which automates all measurements. Therefore it is possible to identify the usable surface of the donor area and the exact number of hair follicles that can be transferred, always in line with the requirements for coverage in the areas showing hair thinning.

After the hair transplantation procedure, trichoscopy makes it possible to verify the number of actually transplanted hair follicles, as well as the number of re-grown hair follicles. The software offers comparative “before and after” pictures of the hair transplantation, leaving no room for doubt regarding the number of the emergent hair follicles.

Moreover, through the “Trichoscopy controlled FUE”, the result is absolutely natural leaving no visible signs of the procedure performed, , since the tools (punches) used for the follicular units’ extraction, are less than 1mm in diameter (0.6mm). In this way, the donor area is not injured. At the same time, the tiny follicular units are extracted with their sebaceous glands, which helps in their survival rate and therefore in the success rate of the hair transplantation.

Furthermore, the individual hair follicles are transplanted straight on the areas showing hair thinning, without the prior creation of any holes, as it happens when performing the traditional technique. Thanks to specially designed tools, powerful microscopes and state-of-the-art methodology, the follicular units are implanted with just one movement, in the desired angle, direction and depth in the treatment area. All these guarantee a fully natural result and a 100% successful hair transplantation, since the Micro-FUE method has been evolved to protect each single hair.

Autologous growth factors as adjuvant treatment (Mesotherapy P.R.P.)

In Dermatology new and modern biotechnology treatments are used nowadays, while it also takes advantage of self-cure characteristics of the human body, through the collection and re-infusion of growth factors of the blood’s plasma. This is how the organism’s own strength is enhanced with no need to use chemical or other substances.

Treatment is carried out following the collection of a blood sample from a peripheral vein, the quantity of which does not exceed to quantity of blood drawn during a typical examination. The blood is centrifuged in a special device, so that to separate red blood cells, plasma, platelets and white blood cells.

The plasma received from the centrifuged blood contains all growth factors and it is used for the infusion.

Growth factors activate the mature cells in order for the skin to respond quickly to repair any damage of the tissues.

Furthermore, plasma has all the necessary nutrients (amino acids, lipids, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins, etc.) which are essential for the tissues’ nutrition and growth.

Since the material used comes from the organism itself there is no chance of being rejected.

As a result, dysfunctions are recovered by the organism itself in a shorter period of time and more effectively. As far as hair loss is concerned, this procedure increases the activation of dysfunctional hair follicles, so that to be able to help in the growing of new hair, as well as to strengthen and increase the thickness and length of the existing ones.
